Gannon University's Homecoming Reunion Weekend Honors the Past, Looks to the Future

More than 1,000 alumni of Gannon University and Villa Maria College, and their family and
friends are expected to arrive on campus for Homecoming Reunion Weekend, Oct. 6-8.

In addition to the old friends and classmates who will be reunited at the weekend’s festivities, attendees will
find new events and activities to sample. A major innovation is the tailgate and street party that will take
place before the football game with rival Edinboro University.

Sassafras St. between W. Fourth and W. Fifth will be closed from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. to concentrate the fun
in a centralized outdoor area. “In years past, we’ve had alumni parties prior to the game, but this year we’ve
combined efforts with the student Activities Programming Board to host an event that the entire Gannon
Family, students, alumni, friends and faculty/staff, can enjoy together,” said Nancy Bird, director of alumni
services.

Activities Programming Board will provide food and performances by students, billed as Gannon’s Got
Talent, and alumni, in the band The Romantic Era, will entertain attendees right up to the kickoff of the
football game.

To get the weekend off to a gala start, the Distinguished Alumni Dinner will honor
Daniel Daube ’84, Scott M. Krall ’84, Autumn Marshall ’09 ‘10M, Lisa Spiller, Ph.D. ‘82, and receiving the
Monsignor Wilfrid J. Nash Principles of Christian Conduct Award, Sister Mary Drexler, SSJ '71VMC.
