John V Schultz Raising Funds to Pair Shelter Animals with Veterans for Memorial Day

John V Schultz Furniture and Mattress is kicking off the biggest retail holiday weekend of the summer with hot dogs, fun summer flair, giant beach balls and a pledge to help shelter animals find loving forever homes with veterans.

A portion of Memorial Day weekend sales, with a minimum pledge of $500, is going to be donated to Erie’s chapter of Pets for Vets – a program that helps pair veterans with physical or emotional injuries with shelter dogs to give both a second chance at a better life.

“The Pets for Vets program just phenomenal, it’s such a cool program and I’m really glad to be a part of it,” said Ruth Thompson, Director of The Anna Shelter. “It pairs perfectly with The Anna Shelter’s overall mission of saving animals, one at a time.” Erie’s chapter of Pets for Vets operates out of The Anna Shelter, a no-kill that focuses on finding lifelong homes for animals in need. The Pets for Vets program provides specially selected, trained and certified companion dogs or cats to veterans who are felt to be at risk.

“We’re thrilled to be doing something greater this holiday weekend and helping honor veterans through such an amazing cause,” said Matt Schultz, President of John V Schultz and Ashley HomeStore.

John V Schultz has been part of the Erie community since 1940 and is a third generation family-owned business. John and Matt Schultz furthered their investment in Erie by opening an Ashley HomeStore in January of this year, providing an additional 30,000 sq. ft. to the adjacent showroom. This created a one-stop furniture and mattress destination in the region at over 90,000 sq. ft. and offering buyers a greater variety of style options, while bringing the total number of company employees up to 250.

Stop by Memorial Day weekend to join in on the fun beginning Saturday, May 25 until Monday, May 27 to help celebrate and honor our community’s local veterans and active service members while enjoying free hot dogs, refreshments and summer flair.
