Your Sports Leader WPSE is Erie's New Radio Home for Cleveland Browns Football
Your Sports Leader WPSE (FM 107.1/AM 1450) is Erie’s new affiliate for Cleveland Browns football, with live broadcasts of all pre-season and regular season games and additional related programming on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays. The 2019 pre-season begins with an Aug. 8 home game against the Washington Redskins.
WPSE joins the Cleveland Browns Radio Network as interest in the Browns is surging: The team, led by franchise quarterback Baker Mayfield, is favored to win the AFC North, according to the Westgate Las Vegas SuperBook. A blockbuster trade for Odell Beckham Jr., a highlight-reel wide receiver with 44 career touchdowns, further heightened expectations for the team, which has not appeared in the NFL playoffs since 2002.
“We are thrilled to be Erie’s new radio home for Cleveland Browns football,” said Joe Martin, general manager of WPSE Radio. “We’re devoting more than nine hours of every game day to Browns football coverage, and we’ll supplement that with three additional programs every week.”
Featured in-season programs include “The Cleveland Browns Preview Show,” with hosts Ken Carman and Jerod Cherry (Thursdays, 5-6 p.m.), and “Browns Huddle,” the weekly coach’s show (Fridays, 5-6 p.m.). The “Browns Weekend” morning show will be broadcast year-round, on Saturdays from 6-8 a.m.
Game-day broadcasts will feature play-by-play coverage by Jim Donovan, the longtime voice of the Browns, with analysis by Doug Dieken, a Pro-Bowl offensive lineman who played in 203 games for the team. Game-day coverage will include the team’s four-hour pre-game show and a two-hour post-game program.
WPSE is owned by the Penn State Board of Trustees and operated by Penn State Behrend under the direction of a professional broadcast staff. In addition to being a round-the-clock, one-stop source for global and financial news and commentary by regional business leaders, the station is Erie’s radio home for Penn State sports broadcasts, Pittsburgh Penguins hockey and marquee high school football and basketball games.
